Sam Beck is the Head of Applied Artificial Intelligence for Payments Operations as well as Client Onboarding and Service in J.P. Morgan’s Commercial & Investment Bank. His team builds the models that facilitate the movement of trillions of dollars daily, while ensuring the security and resiliency of a key function of the financial system.

Sam's extensive portfolio includes developing models for client list screening, transaction sanctions screening, public and private sector document digitization, inquiry management, payment repairs, reconciliation, and other functions. His innovative models have generated millions of dollars in recurring annual savings for the Payments business, in addition to significantly enhancing the client experience, offering scalable solutions, and reducing regulatory and reputational risks.

With 23 years of experience in financial services, Sam brings a wealth of expertise to his role. Before joining J.P. Morgan, he led a team of Risk Strategists at BlueMountain Capital, where he was responsible for calculating risk, capital, profit and loss, and extreme stress scenarios. While at Bank of America, Sam contributed to building a core risk platform, and at Goldman Sachs, where he started his career, his work focused on market risk calculations.

Sam holds a degree in Computer Science from Cornell University and has dedicated his career to building advanced analytics technology for businesses undergoing growth and transformational change.
